  1. Hi Charlotte & Wes! Carol & Mark Slater here. Carol had two miscarriages, 25 years ago, and thus we have no children. We want to support your effort to adopt and become parents! We enjoyed our pilgrimage to the Holy Land with you, and think highly of you both. We are making a donation to your fund! Our prayers are with you!

  2. I will be praying for you on your journey. Our neighbor across the street is adopting domestically in June. I have another friend who had secondary infertility so adopted from Ethiopia, found out they were pregnant just before they were to go to pick up their daughter and went on to have three more children - most recently four months ago. My husband's sister had severe endometriosis with several surgeries just to "clean her out" before she was even married. She conceived three children naturally. They are 5, 3 and 1. Whatever road you end up on, I know that God has a plan for you and in the end, you'll know it was the right one for your family. What a blessed child this little one will be to be born into a family like yours. Our family has traveled on several pilgrimages with your parents over the years. Thank you to Wes for his service to our country and his willingness to go into healthcare. We need smart and ethical doctors in this country!

  3. Hello Charlotte and Wes,

Please know that my husband and I are praying for you both. We struggled for five years with infertility - through testing, medicines and surgeries for endometriosis as well.

Through much prayer we finally came to the understanding that it was not our will, but God's will that would be done. Like a light bulb clicking on, we realized that it really didn't matter whether our children came "through" us or "to" us - we would love them just the same!

We finally applied for adoption and two weeks later found out we were pregnant. That was nearly 38 years ago! We had six children in 8 1/2 years who are all married now and we are expecting our 14th grandchild in November. Our good Lord has plans we could never dream of - whether through natural birth or the blessings of adoption, He wants us to have life and have it abundantly!

Whenever I pray for our children, grandchildren, families and especially other moms and moms to be, I like to pull out the big guns and implore Jesus’ Mother (our Mother too) to take my petitions to her Son. She knows the heart of a mother and has cried the tears of sorrow and joy even more intensely than we have. The Memorare is one of my very favorite prayers of petition, especially for children and for mothers.

This is what I am praying for you!

"Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thine intercession was left unaided.

"Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my mother; to thee do I come, before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me."
    Amen.

    God bless you!
    Diane

  5. Hi Charlotte and Wes,

I stumbled across your blog, and I'm so glad I did. Thank you for being brave enough to share your story. Although not for right now, my husband I are open to adoption as a way to grow our family in the future, so it has been a blessing to find your blog. I appreciate your honesty through this process. I will be checking back from time to time to see how everything is progressing.

    God bless you,

    Ruth

  6. Dearest Charlotte,

When I found out about your struggles with endo and ivf, my heart broke. From the moment I met you, you have been baby crazy. I wish you and Wes all the best in this journey to bringing your little one home. My journey to motherhood started out with a surprise and hope and was quickly shattered by heartache as I miscarried our first baby. I spend his or her due date (6/28) baking for Robert's birthday (6/29). I declined invites to baby showers and was closed off for the longest time. But my struggles, my heartache made me ready and opened my heart to James. You two were the first people to hold him and welcome him into this world. And when the time is right, you will do the same for your sweet baby. All my love, Savannah
